New Tax Lawyer Committee

New Tax Lawyer Committee

The New Tax Lawyer Committee (NTLC) of the OSB Taxation Section provides professional development, leadership, and educational opportunities and resources to lawyers new to the tax law practice.

Membership in the NTLC is open to OSB Taxation Section members until their tenth year of practicing in the tax field or the fifth year of membership with the OSB Taxation Section, whichever is later.

Leadership Opportunities

The NTLC has five active work groups that plan and coordinate committee programs and events. Each work group consists of volunteers who are appointed by the NTLC chair on a rolling basis. New tax lawyers who are interested in volunteering should contact the NTLC chair.

The NTLC officers serve calendar year terms and are nominated at the October NTLC meeting. The officers are responsible for scheduling and facilitating monthly meetings, supporting the activities of the work groups, and reporting to the OSB Taxation Section Executive Committee.

Quarterly Meetings

Held once per quarter, meetings are open to all new tax lawyers. The meetings are in a “brown bag” lunch format, and a call-in number is available for those who cannot attend in person. The meeting location rotates among the offices of various new tax lawyers in Portland. New tax lawyers who are interested in attending a meeting should contact the NTLC chair.
